WOBAG Grevesmühlen owns a total of around 1,800 housing units. The percentage of age-appropriate apartments at 11% is high compared to the state average. Of a total of 198 age-appropriate apartments, 128 apartments are managed under the motto "Living in old age - independent living with security and service". Since the earmarking makes a care offer mandatory, WOBAG Grevesmühlen has concluded a cooperation agreement with Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO), in which Arbeiterwohlfahrt undertakes to offer individual services from the health, social and cultural areas.
Under this motto, the "Alte Schäferei" residence was built in 2000/2002. Its 58 barrier-free apartments can be reached by elevator and, in addition to two rooms, are equipped with a bathroom, fitted kitchen, balcony or terrace, fire alarm and emergency call. The apartments have either a living space of approx. 42 m² or approx. 60 m².
The following community facilities are located in this existing residential complex:
- a senior citizens' café
- a bath room
- a treatment room
The property is characterized by a quiet, idyllic location on the edge of the forest.
Once a week, several shopping carts offer fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, cheese, baked goods and other groceries directly on site. The AWO also goes shopping separately with the residents. A hot lunch is provided upon request.

Center „Am Wasserturm“
The "Am Wasserturm" center was built in 2003/2004 as a further senior citizens' complex, whose 70 apartments are also rented out by WOBAG. At Wasserturm 52, 18 apartments and one guest apartment were newly built to the standard of the "Alte Schäferei" Residenz; the conversion of four-room existing apartments at Am Wasserturm 17-19 and 29 created a further 52 age-appropriate apartments with terrace or balcony, centrally and conveniently located in a quiet area with a high quality of living. An elevator system is available in each residential complex. Due to the high demand, we also converted the house Am Wasserturm 16 in 2015. 12 low barrier and 2 barrier-free apartments were created by the elevator and a stair elevator.

Senior citizens' cafes also invite them to socialize here. The senior citizens' residence "Am Wasserturm" is supplemented by a nursing home with 72 places, which is operated by the AWO.
When renting an assisted living apartment, the condition is that a fee-based care contract is concluded with the AWO. The Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Workers' Welfare Association) of the Nordwestmecklenburg district looks after our tenants in assisted living on the basis of a comprehensive range of services, including personal advice for senior citizens. The basic services or the additional optional services can be found in this AWO services. The subject of this contract are services of daily living, which are intended to enable the beneficiary to occupy his/her own rented apartment in the long term.
For home care:
Residents who have a care degree and need to be cared for via nursing care decide for themselves which home care service they commission. These care services are not part of the care contract and are therefore the responsibility of each resident.
